Introduction to the Vipassana Meditation blog
As an introduction to this blog I will just start with a little bit about what vipassana is and how I came into contact with it. Vipassana is a form of meditation also known as insight meditation. There are quite a few different variations on the practice but it is considered by nearly all Buddhists to be the highest form of meditation and to be the closest to what the Buddha himself practiced in order to attain liberation.
Over the years it has passed from India to Myanmar and then supposedly got ‘lost’ for some time. Only monks in great solitude knew of the practice. In recent years it has spread in popularity around the world.
